A small airport known as Gatwick airport was built on ground adjacent to Hunts Green Farm's racetrack in 1930 and operated by the Surrey Aero Club, a small flying club. It was approved in August 1930. It was utilised by more jockeys and racegoers for the race meetings at the Gatwick Race Course in only one year.
