Our Lady of Muswell is a medieval English Marian shrine in the Middlesex region, located on Muswell Hill. The shrine was named after a mossy spring or well on land given by Robert de Belmeis II Bishop of London in the twelfth century to the Augustinian Priory of St. Mary, Clerkenwall for use by nuns as a dairy farm. The well was dedicated to the Virgin Mary and was said to have great healing properties, making it a place of pilgrimage. In the 16th century, a King of the Scots was cured of a disease by taking the waters of the well, and the nuns built a chapel near it, "bearing the name of our Ladie of Muswell". The chapel disappeared with the dissolution of religious houses under King Henry VIII, but the land was administered by Clerkenwell parish until 1900. The modern Catholic parish of Our Lady of Muswell was established in 1917, and the church was built in 1938 and consecrated in 1949.
