Betchworth, a village in Surrey, was once part of the Wotton hundred and was reclassified in the 13th century. Betchworth lime quarries, such as the Smidth Kiln at Betchworth Quarry, were built to supply cement for brick-built housing. The village also had brickyards, with Sir Benjamin Collins Brodie living and dying at Broome Park, a nursing home since 1993.
