The Portland Hotel was a 19th-century hotel in Portland, Oregon that closed in 1951 after 61 years of operation. Designed by William M. Whidden and Charles Follen McKim, the hotel was built on the site of the former school, the Central School Building. Construction of the hotel began in 1882 with financing from railroad tycoon Henry Villard. However, due to the Panic of 1884, construction was stopped for five years.
